Recipe Notes: Serves 8
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Inactive Time: 15 minutes
Bake Time: 30-35 minutes
Difficulty Level: Easy
tsp. = teaspoon Tbsp. = tablespoon g = grams

Ingredients & Measurements:
Apple Filling
2 large apples (your choice, I used honey crisp)
3 tbsp. (44g) melted unsalted butter
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 tbsp. 13g brown sugar*
1 tsp. vanilla extract
½ tsp. salt

Crisp Topping
¾ cup (109g) all purpose flour
¾ cup (90g) old fashioned oats
½ cup (95g) packed brown sugar
½ tsp. salt
2 tsp. cinnamon
6 tbsp. unsalted butter, melted

Instructions:
Step 1: Apple Filling
Wash and dry apples, core and cut into medium chunks and place in a large bowl.  Melt 3 tbsp. of butter. Once the butter is melted add it to the apples and then add the sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt. Toss to coat the apples.

Step 2: Make Topping
In a medium bowl combine the flour, brown sugar, oats, cinnamon, and salt. Stir in the melted butter making sure the oats and flour absorb the butter.

Step 3: Bake
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Butter the baking dish. I prefer to make individual servings so I used 8 small ramekins, you can use a square 9×9 baking dish or a pie dish. Butter the baking dish(es), place a good amount of apple filling and then pack the apple crisp topping on top of the apples. Place the baking dish(es) on a large cookie sheet to catch any overflow.

Bake for 35 minutes, until the apples are cooked and bubbly and the crisp is golden brown.  Remove from the oven and let them sit on the baking sheet for 15 minutes. To serve, add a scoop of vanilla ice cream and enjoy!

*If you use a tart apple such as a granny smith, you can increase the sugar to 2 or 3 tbsp. depending on how sweet you like your desserts.

Make Ahead Tip:
You can make these 2-3 days ahead of time, work through step 3, wrap with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator. When you are ready to bake, remove from the refrigerator and let it sit on the counter for an hour, then continue with the rest of the steps.
